got into the spirit. Preparations are already underway for
next year's extravaganza! |

gift that is our Green. |

| The much-anticipated July picnic finally came to fruition on
August 5, thanks to the persistent efforts of CPA President Joseph Vorel.

the children, and removing the last traces of a glorious summer
feast. |

| It
took 50 children and one squirrel less than three minutes to clear the
entire Chester Park Green of over 600 eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny.
The traditional Chester Park Egg Hunt, organized by Dawn Milanese,
Joanie Terraciano and Jill Quartararo, exploded into full bloom with over
100 participants and spectators. The
intrepid Easter Bunny frolicked with kids and handed out chocolate eggs
from a basket that magically refilled. Prizes were awarded for the
prettiest Easter basket as well as the most traditional and wackiest
bonnets. Home-made cupcakes and refreshments rounded out a perfect
holiday celebration. |

|
| A blanket of snow set the perfect tone
for Chester Park's traditional visit from Santa Claus. The jolly old
fellow was greeted by record-breaking numbers of enthusiastic
children. One wonders how he keeps track of them all. |

|
| Spooks and goblins of all sizes
descended on our haunted neighborhood for one of the warmest Halloweens in
years. Despite the mild temperatures, house decorations sent a chill
through any tricksters ambling down our tree-lined streets. |

|
| Masons of all ages came out on a
beautiful September afternoon to witness the final task in our walkway
renovation. The right amount of leverage in the right location made
everything fall perfectly into place. |

|
| Generous funding from Starbucks' Park
Grant Program let us draw on professions in the landscaping industry to
assist in revitalizing the walkway into our Green. Without their
invaluable assistance (not to mention heavy machinery) we would still be
mired in dirt. |

|

23rd under perfect skies. Evan Martin coordinated the standard BBQ

neighbors. The relaxing afternoon stretched well into the early

Park. |

Starbucks manager Ron Walker. Ron rose to the challenge of breaking the first piece of old sidewalk.
There were many more to follow. |

|
| The family of George Gallo, our long
time Postman known and loved by many, donated a flowering Cherry tree as a
tribute to George and a thank you to Chester Park residents for the years
of friendship and appreciation. A ceremony honoring George was held in the
Green on May 21st attended by over 20 family, friends and neighbors. |

|
| One of Chester Park's old maple trees, leafless since the
fall of 2003, was finally taken down as a safety measure. The CPA
had hired a professional tree surgeon in May, 2002 to attempted to save
the tree, but to no avail. |

Park. |

|

clean-up succeeded in capturing every leaf. Our Park is now
perfectly poised for the first snow fall. |

|
| Street paint and
other materials became the source of unusual designs on our tree-lined
avenues. By autumn most will have faded. |

the Park waiting to be removed. |

home-baked dishes, combined with the traditional fare of hamburgers,
hotdogs and corn, made for a wonderful summer feast. |

last autumn's leaves. Inspired by the first real forsythia blossoms
along the Park wall, about 24 residents turned up in well-timed shifts to
prepare our Green for sunlight and fresh air. |

MusicFest, produced and staged by the Taverna family, with lots of
cooperation from our local talent. |

branches cut from our Park trees by a professional tree
surgeon. The accumulation of
20 years' dead, diseased and broken limbs were quickly appropriated by
neighborhood kids to make "tree forts," then stacked along
Walnut by children, dogs and grown-ups alike. On Monday, the
Village's colossal chipper, u/d/o Harry Pallett, devoured every last
twig. The "Green" now promises to be even greener thanks
to improved sunlight, while the view upward reveals a beautiful canopy
from our beloved trees. |

since. |

|
| An army of rakes, leaf-blowers and drop clothes appeared
on Saturday, Dec. 8th for a massive one-shot clean-up effort of the Park's
countless leaves. Hot cider, donuts and coffee kept the troops going

December). Special thanks to Bill McDevitt Sr. and Jr. for lending
their equipment, effort and expertise to the task. |

|

2001 season. The

players are always welcome to join. The season starts in May and ends in July.

|
| July 15th: a gorgeous day, a gentle breeze and about 130
neighbors gathered to enjoy the Picnic in the Park. Besides the traditional
burgers, dogs, corn, watermelon and beer, about 20 guests contributed pot-luck
dishes ranging from the Marerro's Spanish rice to Barbara Neus' Pineapple Jello
mold! There was Meggan Mackay's mini quiche and Anne Willis' guests brought
sushi. There was potato salad, 3-bean salad, fruit salad and ceasar salad! There
were cookies, brownies, pies and cake. And who made that amazing rice and
chicken? |
