Pelham Mayor Joe Durnan, who officiated the service, had
recommended Chester Park as a romantic location for the wedding.

A sister copy of the
Chester Park Fountain survives at the elite Metropolitan Club on Fifth
Ave. and 60th St. The
Italian Renaissance club was designed by the firm of McKim, Mead & White in
1894, two years after the founding of Chester Park. The Metropolitan Club's first president was J. Pierpont Morgan.

Fairies appear to have settled in
the North end of Chester Park, as evidenced by this A-frame structure
discovered one April morning. The elusive creatures are
believed to bring good luck to our community.

this year as revelers took to our festive streets
bringing musical cheer (if not perfect harmony)
from door to door.

damage as torrential rains pounded Westchester County. While
Chester Park is on relatively "high ground," a network of ponds
still formed in some back yards.

long-tailed kite was no match for the hungry branches of maple trees
lining the Green off Birch Ave.

March 24, 2007
"Cat" of 53 Maple broke
the Chester Park record for time spent up in a tree. Whether chased
there by a dog or lured by a pesky squirrel, Cat remained 40
feet in the air for nearly 50 hours. Calls for assistance to the Pelham Fire and
Police Departments met with, "You've got to be
kidding."
The owners finally hired a local tree service, who rescued
the hungry feline from his
perch with a cherry picker.

service to remove the Park's leaves.

a fallen giant. High winds and soggy soil leave both trees and
residents at risk.

A stump temporarily used as
"second base" in this spring's pick-up games, gets grounded
out. The CPA now removes stumps to eliminate tripping hazards.

dead maple tree removed by neighborhood members last March [photos].

Fresh clover marks the site of an
ancient maple stump removed in the 1990's when Con Ed. claimed its
branches threatened electric lines. The
4 foot diameter stump was finally ground up this spring, leaving a fresh
bed for clover to take hold.

A resilient group of Chester Park astronomers battled the
cold with hot chocolate to observe a full lunar eclipse. The autumn
moon looked particularly crimson as it passed through the bottom of the
earth’s shadow.

Old Glory graces the Park for the
Fourth of July. The 8 by 17 foot flag, donated by a Park resident,
hangs with its stars facing north.

A children's maze (minus the
minotaur) appeared magically one Saturday morning in a corner of the
Park. The living labyrinth turned out to be part of a three year
old's birthday celebration.
